Tataki Zome is the Japanese art of hammer dyeing or plant bashing. It is an ancient eco-printing technique where natural pigments are transferred from fresh flowers and leaves directly onto paper or fabric using physical force. In addition to having mastered the pressing of botanicals, Roiann has become enamored with the results from pounding foraged plants and blooms to extract their natural pigment on luxurious handmade paper. The resulting prints are extraordinary in both pattern and color.
