botanical press instructions
Oshibana- the art of arranging flattened blooms emerged in the west during the late 1880s. The art of pressing flowers evolved after WWI when soldiers would pick wildflowers and weeds in European trenches.
The goal of pressing flowers is to draw out moisture from the flowers quickly and efficiently. This prevents them from rotting. Included in your kit is blotting paper, perfect for absorbing the moisture.
1
You will want to begin by changing out your blotting paper after 24 hours of pressing your flowers. Then you will increase the time in the press to 48 hours before changing the blotting paper a second time.

Now that your flowers are dry, it’s time to mount them! We recommend using water-based, acid-free glue to secure your flowers to your chosen surface. To mount your flowers, position them as you wish and trim any excess pieces. If you wish to seal your design, opt for a mod podge, sealer plastikote spray, or clear varnish.
